Olympics 2012
Women’s Hoops Roster Loaded for London

With six of the twelve members of Team USA being former players at the University of Connecticut, head coach Geno Auriemma is in a familiar place.
Whether it’s stars from the earlier parts of the decade like Swin Cash and Sue Bird, or more recent hoopsters Maya Moore and Tina Charles, the Huskies have a presence up and down the roster.
Even so, it’s not just UCONN alums that make this roster an incredible gathering of talent. Former LSU standout Seimone Augustus leads Team USA into London. Augustus led the Minnesota Lynx to a WNBA title in 2011 and was named MVP of the finals.
We can’t forget about Naperville, IL native Candace Parker. Like many players on this roster, Parker won gold with Team USA in Beijing in 2008. During those games she was in the midst of winning WNBA Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player honors. Four years later, Parker now has a daughter and is coming off of a knee injury; but she’s still dominant on the court.
From the oldest member of this team, (Tamika Catchings, 32) to the youngest (Maya Moore, 23) Team USA Women’s Basketball is loaded. It’s safe to say with these ladies representing our country in London, anything short of a 5th consecutive gold medal would be a disappointment.
