George Zimmerman Trial,spirituality
Testimony: Days 3 & 4
Rachel Jeantel told the jurors she and Trayvon Martin were talking on the phone when he noticed a man watching him. Trayvon described the man as a “creepy-ass cracker.” Jeantel said she and Trayvon continued to talk as the teenager made his way back to his father’s fiancée’s house at The Retreat at Twin Lakes. At one point, Jeantel said Trayvon realized the man was following him. Trayvon began to run, Jeantel testified and the call disconnected. She called back and she heard Trayvon say, “What are you following me for?” She then heard a “heavy-breathing” man say, “What are you doing here?”
Jeantel testified she heard “a bump.” She said Trayvon was hit and then she heard, “Get off, Get off!” And the phone went dead.
Much has been made about Jeantel’s testimony and the testy exchanges between this key witness and defense attorney, Don West. Despite Jeantel’s admitted lies about her age and the reason she did not attend Trayvon Martin’s wake, many legal experts say her testimony provides very strong evidence that George Zimmerman was the aggressor on the night of February 26, 2012 when he shot and killed Trayvon Martin.
