The Jury
The jury in the George Zimmerman Trial consists of six women. Five of them are mothers. Courtroom observers say they were very attentive and took copious notes. One was seen wiping away tears today when Prosecuting Attorney John Guy said, “Your verdict will not bring Trayvon Benjamin Martin back to life. Your verdict will not change the past, but it will define the future.” Here is a closer look at the women who will decide George Zimmerman’s fate.
Juror B37 is a mother of two who used to have a permit to carry a concealed weapon, but she told the judge, “I have an issue with what kinds of arms people are allowed to bear.”
Juror B76 is the mother of two grown children. She told the judge, “Our family is pretty open-minded…we like to base our judgment on the whole story.”
Juror E40 is the mother of a grown child, who recently moved from Iowa to Florida. She told the judge she believes gun owners need to realize “there’s a responsibility attached to bear arms.”
Juror E6 is the mother of two who told the judge she transforms news of the shooting into a “teaching moment” that enabled her to talk to her children about “behavior that was safe, not that you’re doing anything wrong, but be proactive…don’t put yourself in harm’s way.”
