Ten Ways To Show Your Mother You Care

Tupac may have written the lyrics, “Mom, I appreciate you.” But, on Mother’s Day children everywhere will show their appreciation. Here are 10 suggestions from TheVillage Contributor, Renarda A. Williams.
Call Your Mother: To check on her or just say “hello.” As Stevie Wonder sang, “I Just Called to Say I Love You.” One day, during my senior year at the University of Southwestern Louisiana, I called my mother and said, “I just called to say I love you.” She started crying. Every now and then, she reminds me of that song, saying how much she appreciated the call.
Do Something Special for Your Mother: Not just on her birthday or Mother’s Day. Take her to dinner, give her a card, or do something she will cherish for the rest of her life.
Surprise Your Mother with A Visit.
Invite Your Mother to Join You for A Special Occasion: On May 7, 2015, my wife and I were visiting my mother, and we took her on a day trip with us to New Orleans to share in our 10th wedding anniversary. She was shocked to find out that we wanted her to share our wedding anniversary with us. We treated her to dinner, took her to a museum, and spent the whole day with her.
When Your Mother is Sick, Do What You Can to Be There for Her: She will appreciate it dearly that her child is looking out for her.
Spend Time with Your Mother and Her Friends: Make her friends feel like that they are a part of your family.
When Your Mother Calls, Please Listen: If there is a problem, or your Mother just wants to share what is on her mind, talk to her and giver her your attention.
Spend Time with Your Mom…Just Because: Take her out shopping sometimes. Go walking in the park with her. Take her to lunch or dinner.
 Invite a Friend to visit your Mother with You: Your Mother will feel honored.
Acknowledge Your Mother’s Role in Your Life: She will cherish that FOREVER!
