Columbus, Ohio Celebrates New MLK Library

Martin Luther King III joined politicians and community activists in Columbus, Ohio for the dedication of a library named in his father’s honor, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther, King, Jr.
After Dr. King’s assassination in 1968, the Columbus community dedicated a library to the Civil Rights legend. It was the first public library in the United States named for him, and Martin Luther King, Sr., his father, attended the ceremony. Fifty years later, the Nobel Peace Prize recipient’s son did the honors as the library was relocated to what was formerly known as the Eastside Branch.
In his remarks to the crowd, the eldest of the King children talked about the importance of the library, changing the world, and voting in the 2018 midterm elections.
