One of the World’s Oldest Living People Talks to TheVillageCelebration
New ways to live longer are reported every day. The warnings and studies send us on a scavenger hunt even Ponce de Leon would not have entertained. But, there are a few who have defied the longevity odds without a strident dedication to the health craze of their day.
Mrs. Ivory Lambert is one of them. She was born and raised in the small southern town of Bearden, Arkansas. The experts call her a supercentenarian, having lived 111 years.
Mrs. Ivory, as she is known, is a familiar face among those who study lifespan. She’s been interviewed by ABC’s “Good Morning, America” and an assortment of local and regional reporters. Recently, TheVillage sat down for an afternoon conversation with Mrs. Ivory to talk about her beloved husband, her fondest memory, and her favorite Bible verse: “Love thy neighbor.”
