Do You Know Ebonics?

Retired Washington University professor, Dr. Robert Williams, added a word to American culture to describe African Americans’ unique vernacular. He called it “Ebonics.” And, it all started with his commitment to understanding the way African American children learn.
The Arkansas Black Hall of Fame recently inducted Dr. Williams who grew near Little Rock. While in Arkansas for a lecture series, the esteemed researcher sat down with TheVillageCelebration’s Vickie Newton to talk about his career and the word that has become part of the American lexicon.
