40 Acres and Much More: The Gilmore Family Farm
Many Americans are enjoying a return to their culinary roots, dining on foods grown by the farmers in their area. It’s a long overdue acknowledgment of the significance of the family farm. Black farmers are included in the food fest, even as they seek justice after years of discrimination. TheVillage spent the day recently at a livestock farm owned by Nancy and Horace Gilmore in southern Arkansas. The Gilmore’s have been voted farm family of the year in their county and are an example of the African-American farmers who help feed the country.
